Smart lockdowns bearing encouraging results: PM Imran
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that the strategy of smart lockdowns is showing very encouraging results across the country.
The Prime Minister chaired a meeting at the National Command and Operations Center (NCOC) to review the coronavirus situation, which was also attended by federal ministers, special assistants and senior military officials.
During the meeting, officials of National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and Health Department briefed on the latest situation of coronavirus in the country.
The 100-day performance report of the National Command and Operations Center was also presented to the Prime Minister on this occasion, at which the PM expressed satisfaction with the NCOC. In these 100 days, NCOC formulated a strategy to deal with the pandemic and stop its spread while taking steps to restore the economy.
According to the NCOC, the number of people recovered from the virus has exceeded the number of currently positive patients. Up till now, 125,094 patients have fully recovered across the country.
There are 95,570 active cases of coronavirus in the country, 3387 new cases have been reported in the last 24 hours while another 68 corona victims have died. To pay tribute to the heroes who served on the front line, the national leadership will visit various hospitals and healthcare facilities in the country and acknowledge the unparalleled services of doctors, nurses, paramedics and support staff.
The NCOC paid tribute to the people of Pakistan who supported it in responding to the pandemic.
Nationwide, 1,518 ventilators have been allocated for coronavirus patients, of which 468 are still in use. So far, 225,283 confirmed cases have been reported across the country while the total death toll has risen to 4,619. So far 1.372 million tests have been conducted.
