Violation of SOPs: Punjab, Sindh govts warn of tightening restrictions
Sindh CM said 18 people have succumbed to coronavirus pandemic in a single day in the province.
LAHORE/KARACHI (Dunya News) – As the people have started taking unfair advantage of the government s easing of lockdown, Sindh and Punjab government on Tuesday warned of tighten the restrictions.
Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah said that record 18 people have succumbed to the novel coronavirus pandemic in a single day in the province.
He said that restrictions will be imposed again if the situation does not improve.
The chief minister said that the condition of several patients suffering from Coronavirus was critical, out of which 27 are on ventilators, besides 412 new cases have been reported in Karachi.
He warned about the lockdown and said that no one followed the SOPs.
On the other hand, Punjab Minister for Industries & Trade Mian Aslam Iqbal while expressing regret over the public reaction after the easing of lockdown and said that traders have put him in trouble, adding that the province was again heading towards lockdown.
He said the lives of people have been put on stake for a few rupees. “I am tired of advocating for traders, but they have cross all the limits,” he said and added the attitude of the responsible people is beyond comprehension.
The provincial minister appealed that children should not be allowed in the markets while guards should be posted in the shops and markets, adding that all shopkeepers should arrange hand sanitizers.
Meanwhile, Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar said the government is taking every possible measure to facilitate masses under prevailing situation of Covid-19.
He warned that the government will tighten the restrictions, if people resort to violate SOPs and ignore precautionary measures.
Earlier, the Punjab CM directed to ensure strict implementation on SOPs relating to easing lockdown in the province. He directed administrative departments to strictly monitor lockdown SOPs and warned that taking undue advantage with regard to ease in lockdown will not be permitted.
Usman Buzdar underscored that PTI government allowed ease in lockdown by taking into account economic difficulties of common man.
He emphasized that dangers of coronavirus still persist and everyone will have to show responsibility and care.
The chief minister warned that strict action will be taken against those business organizations and industrial units for not ensuring full implementation on SOPs and permission of those institutions violating the SOPs will be cancelled.
