Govt committed to hold across-the-board accountability: Shibli Faraz
Minister said that NAB was always used for political purposes during the PML-N era.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Syed Shbli Faraz on Monday said that it seems Leader of Opposition in National Assembly and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) president Shahbaz Sharif failed couldn t satisfy National Accountability Bureau (NAB) with his answers.
Talking to media in Islamabad on Monday, he said that Shahbaz Sharif had said he had returned to Pakistan for the people but so far he has seen him in front of the laptop but nation will never forget that the PML-N paid attention to itself in difficult times.
The minister said that NAB was always used for political purposes during the PML-N era but Prime Minister Imran Khan subordinated the institutions to the law instead of individuals.
“The anti-graft watchdog is an independent institution, which is functioning in transparent manner without any external influence during the PTI s tenure,” he said.
Faraz further went on to say that the PTI-led government is committed to hold across-the-board accountability of all corrupt elements without any discrimination, and Prime Minister Imran Khan will make no compromise on accountability.
He pointed out that the previous governments plundered the national exchequer with both the hands and used NAB for political gains, while Prime Minister Imran Khan brought national intuitions under laws.
The minister urged the opposition to avoid political point-scoring on national issues and joint hands with the government in its efforts to fight global pandemic of Coronavirus.
Senator Shibli Faraz also urged the opposition leader Shehbaz Sharif to face accountability instead of protecting personal interests.
