PESHAWAR (Dunya News) –The associations of doctors on Friday while demanding the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government impose complete lockdown in the province said that it would be difficult to save the country’s population.

Addressing a joint press conference at the Peshawar Press Club, representatives of various KP doctors associations said that Prime Minister Imran Khan should impose a complete lockdown for a month.

They said that the prisoners involved in minor cases should be released while Ulema of different sects should review the points of Taraweeh in the holy month of Ramazan.

The doctors said that the relaxation in lockdown was causing the virus to spread and opening markets and mosques will further spread the virus. “We have to choose between life and business,” they added.

“We have shortage of doctors, ventilators and protecting kits,” they said and added if this continues, there won’t be space in the hospitals.

On Wednesday, the doctors in SIndh while addressing a press conference demanded the provincial government to impose strict lockdown in the province.

The doctors warn of growing risks of coronavirus and appealed not to take the disease lightly. The doctors said that the number of corona patients has increased by 40 percent in the last four days.

While demanding the government to tighten the lockdown, the doctors said that Ulema showed non-seriousness, adding that the virus will spread if people gather in mosques. “There is no place in the hospitals,” they said and added they don’t want to treat people on roads.

They demanded the government to even close shops of essential items in the wake of the deteriorating situation.
