No intention to impose curfew, deploy army in Peshawar: Ajmal Wazir

He praised the services of Pakistan Army in Ehsas program centers and quarantine centers across KP

PESHAWAR (Dunya News) – Advisor to Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Information Ajmal Wazir has said that the government has no intention to impose curfew or deploy army in the provincial capital Peshawar as the situation is, for now, under control.

Addressing a press conference, Information Adviser Ajmal Wazir said that the government is in contact with the Pakistan Army and their services would be sought whenever needed.

He praised the services of Pakistan Army in Ehsas program centers and quarantine centers across the province calling them commendable. He said that under this program, so far Rs13 billion has been distributed to more than 1.1 million families throughout the province.

Ajmal Wazir said that KP has reported 88 new cases in the last 24 hours bringing the total number of coronavirus patients to 1,541. The province also recorded two deaths in the last 24 hours, with the total death toll now standing at 85.

Moreover, 41 coronavirus patients recovered in one day, bringing the total number of recovered patients in the province to 455, he said.

The Information Adviser said that Pakistanis arriving from Afghanistan and Middle East have been quarantined in multiple quarantine centers where they are being provided the best possible facilities. He also said that the coronavirus testing capacity in the province has been increased to 1000 and will be further increased in the coming days. He stressed that people will have to follow social distancing and the advice of medical experts in order to overcome the virus.
