Decision on extending or easing lockdown to be taken after NCC meeting: Asad Umar
Asad Umar also praised that nation for exhibiting responsibility during lockdown
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Federal Minister for Planning Asad Umar on Monday said that the decision on extending or relaxing lockdown to be taken after National Coordination Committee (NCC) meeting on Tuesday.
Addressing a press conference along with Special Assistant on Health Dr. Zafar Mirza in Islamabad on Monday, he said that all decisions will be made after consultation between center and the provinces, adding that the decisions will take into view all aspects including health, business and other areas.
The minister said that a meeting of National Command Center will also be held on Tuesday to discuss the received recommendations and decide on future roadmap. All provincial chief ministers will attend the meeting, he said.
“Pakistanis as a nation have exhibited a higher sense of responsibility during the lockdown period which is yielding good results,” he said.
Asad Umar went on to say that the federal and provincial governments have taken timely decisions and the timely decisions taken by the government are being praised.
“All businesses should follow the health guidelines issued by the government as responsibility of the health of their employees lies on them,” he said and added legislation in this regard may be made, if needed.
Speaking on the occasion, Special Assistant on Health Dr. Zafar Mirza said tracing, testing and quarantine strategy is being implemented in provinces and Islamabad.
He said the testing capacity needs to be increased for identifying the persons who are infected and may be carriers. He said fifty two percent of the total cases are of local transmission.
Giving breakup of cases of corona, he said more than 1.8 million cases with worldwide have been reported with 115,000 deaths.
He said 336 more cases have been reported in last twenty four hours in Pakistan and total number has reached 5,374.
