PM Imran raised Kashmir issue with US President Trump: FM Qureshi
Qureshi said Indian steps depict its non-seriousness in resolving issues through bilateralism
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi on Thursday said that Prime Minister Imran Khan raised Kashmir issue during his meeting with US President Donald Trump.
Addressing a press conference in Islamabad on Thursday, he said that Kashmir has been an international conflict since January 17, 1948 and two UN reports on Kashmir are also present.
The foreign minister said that on January 17, the Kashmir issue was raised again at the UN Security Council because of China s support, adding that the issue was brought to UN Security Council after a lapse of fifty years on August 16.
Qureshi said that regional peace and security is under threat due to India s step of revoking the special status of Occupied Kashmir, adding that over 170 days have been passed of the lockdown of Kashmir where all fundamental rights stand usurped.
The minister said Indian steps reflect its unilateralism and depict its non-seriousness in resolving issues through bilateralism.
He said continued ceasefire violations along Line of Control by India were reported by UNMOGIP. The UNMOGIP admitted complete support and cooperation from Pakistan side, unlike India where there are a lot of restrictions for UN observers.
“The prime minister has decided to launch a detailed campaign and plan to sensitize the people in Pakistan and abroad on Kashmir issue,” he said and added a campaign will be launched from Saturday to highlight the Kashmir issue through print, social and electronic media.
To a question, Qureshi said the entire India stands against the citizenship amendment act that exposed the reality of so-called secular and democratic India before the world community.
To another question, he said the whole nation is united to raise the case of innocent Kashmiris on every international forum.
