18 new cases of Congo virus, dengue fever reported in KP

PESHAEAR (Dunya News) – Congo virus and dengue fever outbreak in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) is spreading very fast as 18 new cases were reported in the province on Tuesday, Dunya News reported.

According to details, 18 new cases of Congo virus and dengue fever were reported in five districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa including Peshawar. At least four patients were admitted at the Hayatabad Medical Complex Peshawar.

Crimean-Congo Hemorrhagic fever, commonly referred to as Congo fever is a tick-borne viral disease which is mainly transferred to humans from pets. Its symptoms include fever, flu, bloody urine, vomiting and nose bleeding.

On the other hand, dengue fever is transmitted by Aedes mosquitoes and is a global public health concern. There is no vaccine available in Pakistan for the virus, which kills an estimated 20,000 people each year and infects up to 100 million across the world, according to the World Health Organisation (WHO).
