Suicide bomber wore Indian-made sandals: report

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The suicide bomber – who blew himself up near the entrance gate of Data Darbar in Lahore on Wednesday morning, claiming the lives of 11 people including five elite force officers and injuring 30 others – was wearing Indian-made shoes, according to an investigative report.

The body parts of the bomber, 15 to 16 years of age, were sent to Punjab Forensic Science Agency for analysis and DNA testing.

Meanwhile, the agency has collected details about the brand of a pair of sandals the suicide bomber was wearing at the time of the attack.

His hand had already been sent to the NADRA for fingerprint recognition, and currently his DNA is being matched with DNA bank of terrorists for his identification.

As the suicide bomber exploded himself near the entrance gate reserved for female visitors, five people were martyred on the spot, whereas six people lost their lives during treatment at hospitals.

Forensic officers collected evidence from the site of the attack, and it was found that the bomb was packed with ball bearings, iron nails and other explosive material.

After the incident, police officers cordoned off the site and began search operation, during which several suspicious persons were taken into custody.

Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Sardar Usman Buzdar visited injured persons at Mayo Hospital on Thursday and distributed Rs500,000 cheques among those who suffered serious injuries and Rs100,000 cheques among others who sustained minor wounds.
