PPP moves NAB over alleged corruption in BRT project
PPP moves NAB over alleged corruption in BRT project.
PESHAWAR (Dunya News) – Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has on Thursday filed a petition in the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) against alleged corruption in the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project.
The details suggest that PPP provincial president Mohammad Humayun Khan, Akhunzada Chatan and Nighat Orakzai filed the plea along with others. The PPP leaders have taken the stance that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has failed to complete the project.
It has been stated that the plan – scheduled to be finished in six months – had an initial cost of Rs39 billion which has now surged to over Rs70 billion due to the delay. The petition feared that the cost will increase further, and requested the anti-corruption watchdog to completely investigate the matter under Article 18.
It has also been alleged in the application that favourite persons were illegally awarded through BRT project by the KP government. NAB chairman should order an immediate inquiry and file references against the accused in the accountability court, the petition requested.
