Parliamentary Secretary calls for encouraging women to contribute in nations building
A woman plays more than one role in society thereby contributing to the development of country
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Parliamentary Secretary Ministry of Planning Development & Reform Kanwal Shouzab has said that those nations progress which recognise the importance of women and provide equal opportunities to them.
The parliamentary secretary was addressing one day conference on ‘Observance of International Women Day – Balance for better’ organized by the Ministry of Planning Development & Reform, Islamabad on Friday.
She said that the Pakistani women are facing many problems including lack of opportunities for education, lack of health facilities, early child marriages, inheritance issues, less wages than men in jobs, harassment at work places and domestic violence.
The secretary emphasised that women need to raise their voices for their rights, adding that women have the power to control their own lives, both within and outside the homes.
Shouzab further stated that a woman plays more than one role in society thereby contributing to the development of country in all areas of life be it sports and politics.
She called for encouraging and providing enabling environment to women to enable them to effectively contribute in nations building.
