Timely retaliation to attack on Chinese consulate saved lives of people: ASP Suhai

KARACHI (Dunya News) – Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Suhai Aziz Talpur said that the ‎moment she came to know about the attack on Chinese consulate in Karachi, she immediately rushed ‎towards the incident place.‎

Talking in Dunya Kamran Khan Kay Sath, the ASP told that police officers conducted operation ‎against the terrorists on a tip off received from their own sources. We called our seniors and more ‎contingents of the security forces for the action, she told.‎

The officer said that there was an exchange of fire between police and terrorists at the time she ‎reached the spot. When I entered the consulate, a Chinese lady hugged me and I told her that you are ‎in safe hands now, she went on to say. ‎

The ASP said, “We were satisfied that we retaliated the attack and saved the lives of foreigners living in our country.”‎

Responding to a question, she said that she has got training regarding how to react to such panic ‎situations. Police officers rendered sacrifices and we are proud of it, she said.‎

Moreover, she further paid tribute to the two martyred officers.‎ 

On Friday, four people were killed when gunmen armed with hand grenades and a suicide vest stormed the Chinese consulate in Karachi.

At least three to four suspects arrived at the consulate in a white coloured vehicle and opened fire on the security guard. The unknown assailants tried to enter the building however; the guard retaliated and foiled their attempt.

“There were three attackers and all three were killed,” Shaikh said.
