Two alleged facilitators of Chinese consulate attack arrested
The police has hinted at a breakthrough in the case in the next 24 hours.
KARACHI (Dunya News) – Two alleged facilitators of Chinese consulate attack were arrested by police on Saturday from Karachi and Shehdadpur.
They were shifted to undisclosed location for interrogation. Police has also taken the alleged owner of vehicle used by the terroists. The police has hinted at a breakthrough in the case in the next 24 hours.
Intelligence agencies also carried out operation in different parts of Karachi on Friday night and arrested at least 10 suspects. The raids were held in Lyari, Baldia Town, Sohrab Goth and Orangi Town areas.
The attack was planned by banned Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) commander Aslam alias Achhu who is currently under treatment at Max Hospital in New Delhi, after being injured in an operation by Pakistani security forces near Sibi.
According to investigation agencies, Achhu had several times travelled to India from Afghanistan on fake passport. His sister was arrested while crossing border last year.
Police has also identified the attackers. The first terrorist was recognized as Abdur Razzaq, a government employee and resident of Balochistan’s Kharan area.
His family had cut ties with him in 2014 due to his criminal activities.
The second terrorist has been identified as Azal Khan Mari alias Sangat Dada, alleged sources, while the third attacker has been identified as Raees Baloch.
Earlier, four people were killed when gunmen armed with hand grenades and a suicide vest stormed the Chinese consulate in Karachi.
Security forces secured the area after the attack, the latest assault on Chinese nationals in the country, where Beijing has poured billions of dollars into one of the largest projects in its massive Belt and Road programme.
China "strongly condemned" the attack and asked Pakistan to take measures to ensure the safety of Chinese citizens and institutions in the country, as well as the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) mega-project.
