PTV corruption case: Dr Shahid handed over to FIA on five-day physical remand
Dr Shahid Masood was arrested from the premises of the Islamabad High Court (IHC).
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Renowned anchor Dr Shahid Masood on Saturday was produced before a local court in Islamabad in Pakistan Television Corporation (PTV) embezzlement case.
According to details, the court has approved five-day physical remand of the accused and handed him over to Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).
On Friday, Dr Shahid Masood was arrested from the premises of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) after his pre-arrest bail petition was dismissed. He was accused of being involved in the corruption of Rs37 million during his tenure as PTV managing director.
The corporation’s lawyer said that Masood had signed a broadcasting rights agreement in exchange for cricket matches with a fake company.
Meanwhile, journalist’s counsel Advocate Shah Khawar said that name of his client was not included in the FIR, adding that he had signed the documents compiled by the legal advisor.
