INGOs were holding debates on homosexuality: Additional Interior Secretary
Senate's Functional Committee was briefed on Monday.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Interior Mohammad Siddique on Monday briefed the Senate functional committee on human rights that international NGOs were holding debates on homosexuality in the past.
“Nine INGOs decided to leave the country, but 18 filed appeals. All of them were given an opportunity of personal hearing and after that some applications were rejected. They have been directed to wind up their operations within two months and leave the country," he said.
Later, Federal Minister of Human Rights Shireen Mazari said that some INGOs were doing mapping in Pakistan and they entered in security domain.
Moreover, some German INGOs were not doing social work and had political agenda as they were attached with German political parties, she added.
Regarding missing persons, Mazari told the committee that a project of four phases has been sent to Prime Minister Imran Khan, adding that the premier also want to resolve this issue.
She said: “The government has no objection to introduce legislation on forced disappearances.”
