CPEC to connect China, Mideast and Central Asia: PM Imran
The project will reduce distances and costs
SHANGHAI (Dunya News) – Prime Minister Imran Khan on Monday China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project would serve as a vital link for the two countries with the Middle East and Central Asian Republics.
Addressing the opening ceremony of China International Import Expo at the National Exhibition and Convention Center Shanghai, he said it was an honour being part of the expo and also expressed his gratitude to the government of China for the warm hospitality and participation in the Shanghai Expo.
The prime minister said that Karakoram Highways is part of CPEC, which would link the Gwadar port, adding that being part of the Belt and Road Initiative, CPEC would safeguard common objectives of various regions.
Imran Khan went on to say that the project will reduce distances and costs and would also increase the production of important resources for consumers.
He said, “CPEC is a mechanism to connect China, Middle East and Central Asia, adding that it would also open ways for fresh investment and pave way for new markets.”
Khan further said that his government has initiated deep and meaningful reforms to ensure transparency and accountability and provide seamless smart solutions for the government and the people.
“Pakistan has an array of resources, minerals and renewables amidst the most diverse landscape,” he said and added Pakistan is a leading exporter of sports goods, medical instruments and IT products.
He said with a promising 100 million human resource under the age of 35, the country has a rich potential, and is an attractive place for foreign investors.
The premier also lauded the vision of President Xi Jinping who said "the doors of China will always remain open", particularly at a time when protectionism is on a rise.
