'In what capacity will Imran give NRO,' says Miftah
Miftah asked Fawad to give names of NRO seekers.
LAHORE (Dunya News) – Former finance minister Miftah Ismail on Monday said Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry should tell as to who had sought an NRO from the government.
“We have not sought any NRO from the government. Fawad Chaudhry should tell as to who has sought an NRO. Has Asif Ali Zardari sought one. And in one capacity will Imran give one?” he told ‘On the Front’ host Kamran Shahid.
He said Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) should have appointed Fawad Chaudhry in place of Usman Buzdar as chief minister of Punjab as the former was doing “commendable work”.
The former finance minister lamented the arrest of Shehbaz Sharif, saying there were many cases against government officials but only the opposition leader was arrested.
Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry Sunday said that PTI would not have formed its government had it engaged in “politics of taking turns and ruling the country”.
“Everybody has sought an NRO. Everything will be fine for the opposition if (government) decides not to proceed with cases against them,” he said in an exlusive interview with ‘Mahaaz’.
The minister made it clear that it was upto the government to consider or dismiss the possibility of a Non-Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) as “prosecution is ours”.
