Shops, buildings demolished in Gujranwala under anti-encroachment drive
In Multan, two people were taken into custody for protesting against the operation.
LAHORE (Dunya News) – The Punjab government Monday began its grand operation against land grabbers and encroachments across the province.
Authorities demolished shops and buildings situated in the vicinity of Qila Chanda Singh bypass in Gujranwala.
In Multan, two people were taken into custody for protesting against the operation.
The anti-encroachment drive will begin in Lahore on Tuesday.
Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar said Sunday the operation would be taken to its logical conclusion as per the Supreme Court’s orders.
Buzdar urged masses to cooperate with the provincial government and identify land grabbers and encroachers. He also directed departments concerned to maintain close coordination.
Senior Minister Abdul Aleem Khan suggested that the operation should be initiated against powerful mafias in its first phase and a well-devised strategy be formulated.
He said the success of this operation was in public’s interest and warned authorities against succumbing to political pressure.
