SC directs to demolish illegal construction at Bani Gala

ISLAMABAD (APP):Supreme Court on Monday directed authorities to demolish illegal construction in surroundings of Nala Korang, Bani Gala, following the recommendations of Survey of Pakistan (SP).

A three-member bench headed by Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar heard the case in connection with illegal encroachments at Bani Gala, Islamabad.

During course of proceedings, Additional Attorney General submitted Survey of Pakistan’s report stating that Capital Development Authority (CDA)’s report and Ombudsman report were similar to SP report.

He said that Nala Korang is full of garbage and it’s water flow had been stopped because of it which caused many problems for the residents.

During survey of 21 kilometre authorities found that more than 600 kanal land was encroached by the illegal occupiers in the society.

Chief Justice remarked that court is ordering to demolish illegal constructions in surroundings of Nala Korang, however it is duty of the government to regulate the area.

Babar Awan, counsel for PM informed the bench that matter regarding regulations of the land had been sent to the cabinet and sought time to tell about its decision.

Subsequently, while directing authorities concerns to demolish encroachments, adjourned further hearing of the case till October 12.
