Summary President Asif Ali Zardari on Friday signed a reference to reopen Zulfikar Ali Bhutto murder case.
President’s Spokesperson Farhatullah Babar said that the reference was signed under Article 186 of the constitution and would be sent to the Supreme Court within two or three days. He said that the federal cabinet had authorised the president to send a reference to the Supreme Court.Death sentence was awarded to Zulfikar Ali Bhutto by the Lahore High Court and subsequently upheld by the Supreme Court in March 1979 in Nawab Muhammad Ahmed Qasuri murder case. The death anniversary of Bhutto will be observed on April 5.
