Newly-elected members of Sindh, KP, Balochistan assemblies take oath
The provincial lawmakers will elect speakers, deputy speakers and leaders of their respective houses
KARACHI / PESHAWAR / QUETTA (Dunya News) - The inaugural sessions of Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan assemblies took place on Monday with the newly-elected members taking oath by the outgoing speakers.
Sindh Assembly takes oath
Sindh Assembly Speaker Agha Siraj Durrani chaired the session and administered oath to 165 MPAs-elect in Urdu, Sindhi and English.
KP MPAs take oath
Presiding officer Sardar Aurangzeb Balotha presided over the KP assembly session and administered oath to at least 111 MPAs in the 124-member house.
Opposition members of Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal, PPP and Awami National Party attended the session while wearing black ribbons and staged a symbolic walkout against the terrorist violence during general elections. They took oath later after returning to the assembly.
The session was adjourned until August 15, 10am.
Balochistan’s MPAs-elect take oath
During the Balochistan session, 60 out of the 65 newly-elected members took oath as MPAs which was administered by outgoing Speaker Raheela Hameed Khan Durrani.
The provincial lawmakers will also elect speakers, deputy speakers and leaders of their respective houses.
On the other hand, the Punjab assembly session is scheduled to be held on August 15.
First session of 15th National Assembly
The first session of 15th National Assembly was held today as 331 members of the lower house of the parliament took oath after July 25 general elections.
Outgoing NA speaker Ayaz Sadiq presided over the historic session and administered oath to the MNAs-elect in the 342-member house.
PM-in-waiting Imran Khan, PML-N president Shahbaz Sharif, PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari, Shireen Mazari, Asad Umer, Pervez Khattak, Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Marriyum Aurangzeb, Munazza Hassan, Shah Mehmood Qureshi among others attended the first session of the revamped House.
