LAHORE (Dunya News) – Contractors have stopped collecting waste materials from garbage dumpers over alleged non-payment of Rs1.93 billion by the Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC).

Each day, Lahore generates 5,000 tonnes of solid waste which remains un-lifted in the provincial capital. Streets and neighbourhoods across the city have now been filled up with garbage.

These trash piles have become a matter of grave concern for the citizens as improper disposal of waste continues to expose the public to risk of infectious diseases.
