CJP ordered investigation in lease of government land for Bani Gala residential area

ISLAMABAD (DUnya News) – Supreme Court directed Imran Khan on Thursday to submit reply within one week over the alleged fake No-Objection Certificate (NOC) issue regarding his Bani Gala residence.

While hearing the suo motu notice against encroachments in Bani Gala residential area of Islamabad, Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Saqib Nisar asked PTI chief’s lawyer Faisal Chaudhry whether he received the reply of Islamabad administration over the NOC of property.

Faisal Chaudhry taunted that copy of the reply was not provided to them, but to media. CJP responded that media is part of the court and it knows better.

On Wednesday, former secretary of Bara Kahu Union Council (UC) had declared fake NOC produced by Imran for his residence in Bani Gala. Muhammad Umer said that the authority never issued an NOC to Khan to construct a residence.

He maintained that he was serving as secretary of Bara Kahu UC in 2003 and Imran never sought any NOC. The office, at the time, was not equipped with digital record facility; a computer, he said.

Meanwhile, CJP ordered Capital Development Authority (CDA) chairman to conduct investigation into the lease of government land for residential houses around Rawal Dam.

He told CDA to cancel lease of illegally occupied land, asking the authority to recommend solution of area residents. “We promise that no home in Bani Gala will be demolished,” he added.

CJP bashed the government for running ads worth billions on TV channels. “We have nothing to do with election … we just want clean water, food and air for our kids,” he stated.

The hearing was adjourned till coming March 6 (Tuesday).
