LAHORE (Dunya News) – Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Maryam Nawaz has branded disqualification of former premier Nawaz Sharif as party president on Wednesday a win for him, declaring the top court verdict’s a validation of party’s stance.
Maryam Nawaz reacted on Twitter to the verdict delivered today against her father and stated that it was a win for him as the judges validated stance of the political party over Nawaz Sharif’s disqualification last year.
She stated that the stance owing to which he was served contempt of court notice was validated by Supreme Court of Pakistan’s (SCP) verdict today.
The PML-N leader said that the top most judicial institutions were not delivering verdicts against Nawaz Sharif but giving testimonies of his truthfulness and presenting evidence to support his stance.
Statement of Maryam Nawaz has come after SC served a verdict on petitions filed by opposition parties seeking disqualification of Nawaz Sharif as party chief, challenging Elections Reforms Bill 2017 enacted in 2017.
The constitution was amended last year by PML-N parliamentarians to elect Nawaz as PML-N president following his ouster as Prime Minister (PM) of Pakistan.
