ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Former Finance Minister Ishaq Dar’s bail guarantor Ahmed Ali Quddusi on Wednesday failed to appear before the accountability court that is hearing assets beyond known sources of income reference filed by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) against Dar.

The hearing was conducted by the court of judge Muhammad Bashir. The court went into a recess to give time to Quddusi to appear but he remained absent after the break as well.

Ahmed Ali Quddusi had on November 24 requested the court to not seize the surety bonds worth five million rupees that he had submitted on former minister’s behalf, and was then directed by the court to present his arguments in defence by appearing in person today.

Furthermore, the accountability court has also displayed notice, dated November 21, ordering Ishaq Dar to appear before it within ten days. The notice is also posted on Dar’s residence and it states that he will be declared as a proclaimed offender if he fails appear before the court within ten days from its publication.

It is worth mentioning here that the court had earlier rejected Dar’s petition in which he sought immunity from hearing and had ordered NAB to release advertisement for Dar’s summoning.

Let it be known that Ishaq Dar is in London at present owing to medical reasons and is undergoing heart treatment there. The accountability court has taken severe action against Dar as he continuously missed the hearings of graft reference despite court orders.
