The court is likely to indict both in reference regarding Park Lane apartments.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Maryam Nawaz, daughter of ex-prime minister Nawaz Sharif, and her husband Capt (retd) Safdar on Thursday appeared in accountability court, hearing the National Accountability Bureau’s (NAB) references against them.

During the hearing, Maryam and Captain (r) Safdar requested the court to not indict them as they have not been given any documents including volume 10 of Panama Joint Investigation Team (JIT) report but the NAB prosecutor opposed them, saying that the accused were provided with copy of NAB references and witnesses about 10 days ago, therefore, their plea to delay indictment should be dismissed.

The judge rejected Maryam and Safdar’s request after which Nawaz Sharif’s lawyer Ayesha Hamid filed another petition, asking the court to combine the cases.

The court also disposed of Nawaz Sharif‘s petition that was submitted in accountability court seeking to halt indictment until the decision of Supreme Court (SC) decision over the plea to merge all cases in one.

The court had summoned list of 15 people each from the NAB, the accused and the journalists as not more than 50 people have been allowed to enter the court. However, the security officials are permitted to go inside during the proceedings.

Let it be known that Nawaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz and Captain (retd) Safdar were to be indicted on October 13, but the case was adjourned till October 19 due to the clash between Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) lawyers and police officers.
