PTI candidate Yasmin Rashid met Imran Khan after extensive door-to-door political campaign

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - The NA-120 seat emptied after the disqualification of Nawaz Sharif has led to launch of political campaigns by ruling party Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and its main political rival Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI). After extensive door-to-door campaign, PTI candidate Yasmin Rashid left for Islamabad in order to meet party chairman Imran Khan.

PTI senior leaders, including Shafqat Mehmood and Jehangir Tareen, were also present in the meeting. Yasmin Rashid and the party leadership discussed their upcoming strategy on political campaign for NA-120 by-election. Imran Khan opined that the momentum of the political campaign should be maintained and that he will visit the constituency in order to address a PTI workers  convention.

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) had earlier anounced that the by-polls for NA-120 will be held on September 17, 2017. The ECP notice further stated that candidates can submit their documents for review between August 10 to August 12. In response to PTI s Yasmin Rashid, it was reported that PML-N may give ticket to Kulsoom Nawaz, wife of ex-premier Nawaz Sharif.

A new situation developed in the turn of events after PML-N dropped the idea of fielding Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif. The decision was taken by party leadership to ensure presence of younger Sharif in Punjab, considering it to be paramount when it comes to progress and development in the largest province by population.
