Provinces have refused to take 48,000 employees of the 5 ministries that have been transferred to them in accordance with the 18th amendment, Dunya News reported on Monday. On the other hand standing committee of the national assembly has expressed reservations over transferring the ministry of education to provinces. Chairman of the standing committee Abid Sher Ali said that if the ministry is transferred to the provinces then the rulers of the provinces would start amending the syllabi according to their own wishes and aspirations. He also said that 19th amendment is being considered in this regard. Federal Law Ministry briefed the session that after the 18th amendment education has become a provincial subject and that no legislation could be done by federation in this regard while the law of compulsory primary education could not be implemented properly. The standing committee also expressed its reservations on the recent increase of transport fares of schools and colleges.
