Farmers are not 'terrorists', govt should stop hiding behind democracy: Bilawal

Bilawal Bhutto expressed resentment over detention of more than 600 farmers.

KARACHI (Dunya News) – Expressing solidarity with the protesting farmers, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Wednesday said that they are not ‘terrorists’.

Bilawal Bhutto took to micro-blogging website Twitter and posted in the favor of farmers who are staging sit-in outside Punjab Assembly in Lahore.

He said that Nawaz Sharif and Shehbaz Sharif would not respect democratic rights of others and also warned them to stop hiding behind democracy to save themselves.

Retweeting a post regarding detention of more than 600 farmers, Bilawal Bhutto expressed resentment and said that the incumbent government seeks respect from nation but it is not ready to give democratic rights to others.

PPP chairman also said that there is no democracy in Punjab and termed the province as ‘Sharifistan’.

On the other hand, hundreds of farmers have continued protest outside Punjab Assembly in Lahore over not getting promised package as per agriculture policy.

The farmers blocked main Mall Road that further created difficulties for the locals in transportation.

The protesters said that they would keep on protesting peacefully in Punjab according to their plan whereas they would also demonstrate in Islamabad on 29 September.
