Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) vice-chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that joint Terms of References (TORs) are unavoidable for establishment of a viable judicial commission.

On the other hand, sources privy to the Law Ministry have reported that Supreme Court’s reply does not state that the government should form TORs after consulting the opposition.

CJP Anwar Zaheer Jamali has declined formation of a commission to probe Panama leaks matter as written by Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif to the Supreme Court.

The court stated in its reply that government’s proposed TORs were quite large-scale and would have prolonged the investigation up to few years.

PM Nawaz s family was named by Panama Papers in leaks of Mossack Fonseca published in April. Different opposition parties have demanded the Prime Minister to resign. PM had announced to form a commission, headed by the CJP,  to probe the leaks in a live television address to the nation.
