LAHORE (Dunya News) – At least thirty-six new swine flu cases on Saturday have surfaced in Punjab including four from Lahore.

The sirens in Punjab’s hospitals sounded to alert the staffers regarding swine flu as the disease has been identified in as many as 36 more patients, taking toll to 95.

However, the death tally has been escalated to 12 in the province so far.

Earlier, at least three more people have fallen prey to swine flu in Islamabad.

According to health ministry, as many as three people have been died due to the disease so far while more than 13 shifted to the hospital. PIMS hospital has formed an isolation ward comprised of two beds in the hospital where the patients are under proper treatment.

The ministry stated that samples from Peshawar, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore and Multan have been received in a suspicion of swine flu.

Swine flu virus mostly attack weaker and less immune people.

In 2009-10, the H1N1 swine flu pandemic spread from central Mexico to 74 other countries including India, killing an estimated 284,000 people, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

More than 2,700 died in India of swine flu between May 2009 and December 2010. Last year, India recorded 218 swine flu-related deaths and 937 cases, down from 2013, when 699 died.
