A section has welcomed the traffic police's step terming it helpful

KARACHI (Dunya News) – Traffic police have decided to launch a campaign against vehicles lacking functional headlights and indicators, Dunya News reported Saturday.

The police will serve ticket for the first time while the vehicle will be seized if the rule is violated again.

The campaign is scheduled to be launched on January 22. The authorities have instructed locals to get their vehicles fixed in order to avoid inconvenience. A section has welcomed the traffic police’s step terming it helpful in reducing number of road accidents while people have also criticised the move.

According to the other general comment, it is merely another way to irk the locals.

Police authorities have said that vehicles with defective lights cause accidents during nights and early mornings. The campaign aims ensuring the safety of the locals.

The development has come in few days after dense fog has taken different parts of the country in its wings following first rains of the season.
