Lahore (Web Desk) – Grave digger who buried Kashmiris martyred by Indian forces passed away himself Wednesday. But the mortician was more than just an undertaker; he was a significant eyewitness to the atrocities committed on the citizens of occupied Kashmir and a silent observer of the plight of the captive people.

A resident of an unknown village in Indian held Kashmir, Atta Muhammad had been laying unidentified bodies of his fellow citizens, who he did not know, but helped in laying them to rest.

He was frequently called in by the Indian forces to dig burial sites for scores of unidentified, nameless corpses.

Atta’s son Manzoor Ahmed said that his father shoveled 235 graves from 2002 to 2007, an eerily high number of dead, more than likely martyred in encounters by the Indian security forces.

Ahmed even described his father’s disturbingly personal best score; 9 graves in a single day.

A crowd could be seen at his home as Atta departed from this world.
