KARACHI (Dunya News) – Sindh Higher Education Commission (HEC) Chairman on Friday has said that he does not know his crime till today.
The alleged terror facilitator denied charges once again while casually talking to the media before court hearing in Karachi s anti terrorism court (ATC).
The accused asked his counsel for United States (US) Dollar’s value against Pakistani Rupee to answer a question, however, both the persons were unaware of that.
The ATC adjourned hearing of Dr Asim Hussain’s terror faciitation case until January 19 after re-issuing non-bailable arrest warrants of fugitives.
The court expressed resentment for not arresting the nominated persons. The judge stated that the accused are appearing on TV screens and talking to media.
On December 30, 2015, the ATC had issued non-bailable arrest warrants of MQM’s mayoral candidate Waseem Akhtar, Anees Qaimkhani and Pakistan People’s Party’s (PPP) Abdul Qadir Patel among other ‘fugitives’ in Dr Asim Hussain’s case.
Investigation officer presented a list of witnesses in the case. Total number of witnesses, according to the list is 17. The court included name of judicial magistrate in the witnesses list after objection from Rangers official.
Dr Asim complained about pain in his gums and requested the court to let him visit hospital. The court ordered authorities concerned to get the accused checked by none other than doctor he went to the last time.
The alleged terror facilitator was given in National Accountability Bureau’s (NAB) custody for another 14 days on January 5 after his earlier remand expired. The prosecutor had maintained that 80 percent of Dr Asim’s transactions had been traced.
NAB official had requested the court to grant remand’s extension to complete the investigations.
The former minister is facing a terror case in the ATC while a corruption case in the accountability court. A case was registered against Dr Asim in North Naziamabad Police Station in November 2015 for treating terrorists and target killers in Dr Ziauddin Hospital.
Sindh Police and Rangers had entered a tiff in the anti-terrorism court when the accused was given a clean chit. However, Rangers were not ready to let the alleged culprit walk away.
Terror case is under hearing and so is the corruption reference against Dr Asim.
On orders of the accountability court (AC), Dr Asim was checked by a psychiatrist who declared him unhealthy. He stated is his report that the accused has suicidal tendencies.
The accused has denied charges in both the courts. However, during one of the previous hearings of corruption reference, prosecutor had stated that the alleged criminal had offered the law enforcers during investigations to return pieces of land that he acquired illegally.

The prosecutor had also stated that money laundering evidences have been found during investigations of funds transactions.
