Dadu: Breach in Suprio bund widens to 150ft

Floodwater is gushing towards Mehar as the breach in Suprio bund has widened to 150 feet, Dunya News reported on Sunday. Reportedly, there is no machinery available in Dadu to plug the breach developed in the Suprio bund. Around 80 percent population of the Mehar city has been moved to safer places while thousands of people are working to fill the cracks in Juhi Bund on self-help basis. Juhi Citys ground links with Saeedabad, Sehwan Sharif and Dadu has been disrupted due to inundation. Meanwhile, a 50 feet wide crack in Manara Canal submerged hundreds of acres of agricultural land and damaged the ripe crops. The Irrigation Department kicked off efforts to fill up the breach 10 hours after it emerged. On the other hand, water level in Kotri, Sukkur and Guddu Barrages is receding as inflow in Sukkur Barrage is 351,460 cusecs while in Guddu 736,000 cusecs.
