Opposition violated sanctity of house, Sindh govt passes resolution

KARACHI (Dunya News) – Sindh government on Tuesday has passed a condemnation resolution against the opposition for  violating sanctity of the house .

Speaker Agha Siraj Durrani chaired a session of the assembly after three days today. Opposition approached the Speaker s dais and protested against the government.

The resolution was moved in context of the recent tussle between the opposition and the government over Rangers matter of policing powers. 

The opposition parties had demonstrated more than once in the assembly against government’s delay. Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Pakistan Muslim League-Functional (PML-F) and Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid-e-Azam (PML-Q) among others had announced to form an anti-PPP alliance.

On December 16, Sindh government had extended Rangers’ policing powers on a condition that the paramilitary force would contact the Chief Minister (CM) before arresting a person who does not have direct links with terrorists.

Moreover, the conditional resolution demanded Rangers to acquire warrant before raiding a public office.

Federal Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar had denounced the development and said that Rangers should be given an unconditional authority under Pakistan Protection Act.
