Delay in completion of CPEC projects will not be tolerated: PM

ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) - Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif on Friday said that early completion of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) Project is top priority of the government and any delay in completion of projects under the umbrella of CPEC will not be tolerated.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was briefed by Minister for Finance, Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar on the status of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor projects at a meeting on CPEC Project Monitoring Arrangements at Prime Minister House.

The Prime Minister reviewed all the projects including infrastructure and energy projects.

He said CPEC is future of Pakistan and its timely completion is top priority of the government. He said that he would personally review the pace and progress of the projects through the core team and directed the concerned authorities to update project benchmarks on monthly as well as quarterly basis that would be monitored by the Prime Minister on weekly basis.

Nawaz Sharif said that the projects would lead to generation of employment opportunities across the country and would lead to enhancement in trade and poverty reduction.

He said that he would personally go for ground breaking ceremony of the Western Corridor of the project soon. He said that the concerned officers and officials who would not deliver in terms of timely completion of the project will not be part of our team.
