Earlier today, Islamabad High Court (IHC) restored the package and the notification was issued within a few hours of the restoration.
IHC’s 2-member bench comprising of Justice Anwar ul-Haq and Justice Aamir Farooq accepted the government’s plea against ECP’s stay on the Kisan Package. The federal government’s stance before the court was that the package was going to help the farmers throughout the country, and not the farmers of a particular area.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had announced the Kisan Package worth Rs. 341 billion. The court reserved the verdict after hearing the arguments from both sides. The bench declared the ban on the package outlawed in its decision.
