KARACHI (Dunya News) – Thirteen victims of landsliding in Gulshan-e-Jauhar have been laid to rest in native areas, Rahim Yar Khan and Bahawalpur on Wednesday.

A landsliding incident that happened around 2am on Tuesday in Karachi’s Gulshan-e-Jauhar had claimed 13 lives. ‘China Cutting’ was blamed for the incident as Chunnu Mamu, a culprit involved in several China cutting cases was alleged of building multi-storey flats on Gulshan-e-Jauhar’s hill.

At least eight persons belonged to Head Rajkan of Bahawalpur. The victims involve Muhammad Ayub, and Khursheed along with wives and two daughters each.
On the other hand, the bodies shifted to Rahim Yar Khan’s Tehsil Khanpur include Ghulam Fareed, his wife Rehana and three sons. However, Fareed’s mother remained unharmed in the incident. Family sources said that funeral prayers of the family members have been offered.

Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has been after the culprits involved in China cutting scam including Ahsan alias Chunnu Mamu. Besides Mamu, officials of Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) have also been nominated in different property and land grabbing cases.

Two former directors of KMC named Waseem and Najam-uz-Zaman include the persons alleged of the crime.
The Rangers had conducted a raid in early days of September in Gulshan Iqbal Block 13-D and arrested a close aide of Mamu, Anjum. Sources had said that Anjum was a close confidante of China cutting scam’s master. Reports that surfaced after the arrest also suggested that he worked for a political party.
In August 2015, an official of a Karachi bank was arrested for abusing his position by assisting Mamu in opening accounts for illegal money. The FIA issued a statement after the felon was apprehended that stated a case was registered against Syed Iqbal Rasheed under sections 471, 420, 468, 409 and 109.

Mamu has not visited Pakistan since 2013 however his aides have been helping him launder the money acquired through land crimes.
