Mina tragedy: No. of martyred Pakistanis reaches 42, helpline formed

MAKKAH (Dunya News) – The number of Pakistanis martyred in the Mina tragedy reached 40 on Monday as the search for missing continues. A helpline has been formed in this regard by the Ministry for Religious Affairs on the advice of Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif. For information, the toll free number 042111725425 while for international callers the number 8001166622 can be dialed.

According to the details, families of those missing are still waiting for any news of their loved ones. Pakistan’s Ambassador stated that the return of pilgrims from Hajj will aid in the search for those missing.

PM Nawaz Sharif called on the helpline in Saudi Arabia to observe the quality of the service being provided. According to the Spokesperson for PM Office, the PM called from New York to review the helpline service. The PM also advised the Ministry of Religious Affairs and other departments that further steps should be taken to enhance the search for missing persons and make it even more effective. He also advised them to contact the families of the missing pilgrims on immediate basis.

Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz s (PML-N) leader Tariq Fazal Chaudhary, during a press conference, stated that the PM has announced that 3 family members of the martyrs of Mina Tragedy will sent on Umrah on government s expenses. The families of the martyrs will also be provided aid of Rs. 5 lac while those injured will be provided aid of Rs. 2 lac.
