Promotions, transfers at high levels in army as COAS visits Lahore Garrison
4 Major Generals were promoted to rank of Lt. General while many Core Commanders were also changed.
LAHORE (Dunya News) – Promotions and transfers were made at high levels in the Pakistan Army on Tuesday as the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Shareef visited the Lahore Garrison and attended the 11th Infantry Division’s golden jubilee ceremony. 4 Major Generals were promoted to the rank of Lieutenant General while many Core Commanders were also changed.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the newly promoted Lieutenant General’s include Major General Asim Saleem Bajwa, Major General Sadiq Ali, Major General Umer Farooq Durrani and Major General Amir Riaz.
The new appointments include Lieutenant General Ikram-ul-Haq as Core Commander Gujranwala, Lieutenant General Malik Zafar Iqbal as Core Commander Rawapindi and Lieutenant General Umer Farooq Durrani as Core Commander Mangla while Lieutenant General Amir Riaz was appointed as Commander Southern Command Quetta.
According to the ISPR, Lieutenant General Sadiq Ali was appointed as Core Commander Lahore while Core Commander Mangla, Lieutenant General Hilal Hussain was appointed as Commander Strategic Force.
Lieutenant General Asim Saleem Bajwa will continue to perform duties as Director General (DG) ISPR. Bajwa has also performed the duty of Division Commander in Wana during operation ‘Rah-e-Nijat’. He has previously also performed the duty as the Commander of Triple One Brigade.
According to the ISPR, Lieutenant General Nasir Khan Janjua, Lieutenant General Tariq Nadeem Gillani, Lieutenant General Nadeem Zaman and Lieutenant General Ejaz Chaudhary will retire after completing their tenure next month.
