Lahore: Customs officials foil smuggling bid, recover 120 rare turtles
Suspect Muhammad Afzal was trying to smuggle 120 rare turtles from Lahore to Bangkok.
LAHORE (Dunya News) – Customs officials on Tuesday have foiled an attempt of smuggling rare turtles at Allama Iqbal International Airport and handed over the suspect to wildlife and parks department for further investigation, Dunya News reported.
The suspect, Muhammad Afzal, was trying to smuggle 120 rare turtles from Lahore to Bangkok by hiding them in baby diapers.
According to customs officials, a case under wildlife 2007 act has been registered against the culprit whereas suspect Afzal stated that he was unaware about the ban on deporting turtles.
On the other hand, wildlife department will leave the turtles in river after presenting them in court as evidence.
