Summary ECP said it will denotify Ayaz Sadiq after receiving verified copy of the verdict.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Monday received signed copy of the election tribunal’s verdict in NA-122 case.

After receiving the copy, the Election Commission has forwarded a summary to the Chief Election Commission to denotify Ayaz Sadiq.

On Saturday, the PMLN-N leader was de-seated by the tribunal and re-election was ordered on his National Assembly seat from NA-122 constituency of Lahore.

A petition had been filed by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Imran Khan challenging Ayaz Sadiq s victory in the 2013 elections. Khan who had been defeated by Sadiq in the constituency alleged widespread rigging.

According to reports, Ayaz Sadiq will challenge the tribunal s decision in the Supreme Court.

The appeal prepared by his lawyer states that tribunal’s decision is not in line with the law and constitution and election cannot be declared on the basis of irregularities.

The appeal further states that a parliamentarian cannot be punished for mistakes done by the Election Commission.
