Summary Constitution does not allow government to interfere in ECP’s affairs, the PTI leader said.
LAHORE (Web Desk) – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Jahangir Tareen on Saturday submitted a petition in the Lahore High Court, challenging new delimitation of constituencies in Punjab for the local government elections, Dunya News reported.
The plaintiff stated that amendment in Punjab Local Government Act 2013 is interference in affairs of the Election Commission.
Constitution does not allow government to interfere in ECP`s affairs, he added.
He said the delimitations were carried out on the provincial government’s will under this amendment.
The opposition party has asked the high court to declared the amendment null and void and delimitations should be conducted again in Punjab.
