Summary PTI, JI, JUI-F abstained, PML-N not invited, Rashid says govt's stance on Zardari’s statement clear
ISLAMABAD: (Dunya News) – Pakistan Muslim League – Quaid (PML-Q), Awami National Party (ANP) and Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) delegations on Friday attended the Iftar dinner hosted by former President Asif Ali Zardari. Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI), Jamaat Islami and Jamiat Ulema Islam – Fazl (JUI-F) abstained from attending the dinner while the ruling Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) was not invited. Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Pervaiz Rashid has said that the government’s stance on Zardari’s statement about army is quite clear, reported Dunya News.
According to the details, leaders of important political parties had been invited by C—Chairman Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Asif Ali Zardari. PML-Q leader Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and MQM leader Dr. Farooq Sattar attended the dinner. ANP delegation, led by Iftikhar Hussain, also attended the party.
The guests were served Mutton Chaanp, Mutton Qorma, Sindhi Biryani, Fish Pakora, Chana Chaat, Dahi Bhalla and juice. Chicken Shashlik and Bar B.Q. were also part of the menu. Kheer, Sweet rice and Kulfa were served as sweets on this occasion whereas Lemonade and Cold Drinks were also offered to the guests.
PTI and JI abstained from attending the dinner despite invitation while Maulana Fazlur Rehman declined saying that he had to host his guests at home. However, Farhat Ullah Babar kept explaining that only the allies of the PPP had been invited.
PML-N wasn’t extended the invitation. Senator Pervaiz Rashid said that it was out of question to attend the dinner since the party hadn’t been invited. He said that the government’s stance has been clear regarding Asif Zardari’s statement. PM’s Political Advisor Asif Kirmani also confirmed that the PM House hadn’t received any invitation.
