Karachi: 3275 locals fined for not wearing helmets so far
Restriction on women to wear helmets while riding a bike has been lifted on the first day.
KARACHI (Dunya News) – Traffic police wardens have fined as many as 3275 residents of Karachi so far for not wearing helmets while riding bikes, Dunya News reported on Wednesday.
Traffic police have started detaining the violators of the new law in the metropolitan. The law enforces use of helmet on pillion riders to avoid injuries during road accidents.
On the other hand, Restriction on women to wear helmets while riding a bike has been lifted on the first day.
According to Inspector General (IG) Sindh police, the decision to lift the restriction is to facilitate the masses. This restriction lift also applies on males sitting at the back of the motorcycle.
The decision comes as a nuance for people across the city who claim that such a decision should not have been passed in the first place. People’s time and resources have been wasted, claimed the citizens.
The demand of helmets has also escalated but the hiked prices are irking the locals.
