LAHORE (Dunya News) – Negotiations between Pakistan Kissan Ittehad Council and government, held at midnight, went successful, Dunya News reported on Thursday.

According to details, Pakistan Kissan Ittehad will conduct a procession at Minar-e-Pakistan at 2pm today.

Multan road has also been opened for traffic after the talks.

Groups of farmers belonging to different cities reached Chung from the entry route of Lahore to protest against the non-friendly policies of government.

Police, on the other hand, placed barriers on Multan road to halt the protesters to enter Lahore whereas also sought water cannon to deal with the protesters.

Traffic flow was badly affected due to the hurdles following a long queue of vehicles.

Earlier, Punjab police charged on the protesting farmers before the latter had the chance to assemble in front of Lahore Press Club and arrested several farmers.

Chief Minister (CM) Shabaz Sharif ordered the release of the farmers afterwards.

Pakistan Kissan Ittehad Council had voiced its reservations against non-friendly policies of government for which it announced a protest at Nasir Bagh Lahore.

The government declined permission to hold the protest at the suggested venue following which the farmers association decided to head to Lahore Press Club at Shimla Hill but before the press conference by the farmers association could begin, Punjab police began baton charge on the participants followed by a series of arrests.

The police and the protestors clashed at the occasion, injuring several farmers in the process.
