KARACHI/ QUETTA (Dunya News) – Third day of anti-polio campaign in four districts of Karachi and 29 districts of Quetta is underway, Dunya News reported on Wednesday.
According to sources, the four-day anti polio drive is in progress in four districts namely south, east, west and north which will continue till the next day.
During the campaign, 11 lac children less than five years of age will be inoculated polio drops in 112 Union Councils (UC’s).
Besides this more than 3,600 volunteers and security officials have been deployed.
Moreover, pillion riding is also banned in the metropolis till March 23.
Meanwhile, a three-day anti-polio campaign is also underway in 29 districts of Balochistan.
According to sources, the anti-polio drive has been organized with the collaboration of Balochistan health sector and Donors agencies.
The drops will be inoculated to more than 4 lac children less than five years of age for which 6,498 mobile teams have been arranged whereas volunteers have been deployed in 789 fixed sides and 311 transit routes.
However, the anti-polio drive has been suspended in Quetta due to inadequate security.
According to the polio administration, Balochistan sports festival is underway in Quetta due to which provision of security to the polio teams is not possible.
