Summary Political parties have agreed to nominate Abdul Ghafoor Haideri for Senate deputy chairman's post.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) member Abdul Ghafoor Haideri is likely to become the deputy chairman of Senate, sources told on Thursday.
The decision was taken in a meeting attended by PML-Q leaders Ch Shujaat, Pervaiz Elahi, JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, BNP and PPP leaders at Zardari House.
According to sources, names of JUI’s Abdul Ghafoor Haideri and Hafiz Hamdullah were shortlisted for the post.
The political leaders have gathered at the Zardari House after failing to reach consensus at a meeting held earlier at the residence of PML-Q President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain.
Opposition leader in the National Assembly Syed Khurshid Shah has also telephoned Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to take him into confidence.

The recommendation has been forwarded to the Prime Minister for final approval.
In this regard, the premier is holding consultations with Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party leader Mehmood Khan Achakzai and other allied parties.
The newly-elected senators are taking oath on Thursday after which the session will be suspended till afternoon for election of the chairman and the deputy chairman for the next three years.
Mian Raza Rabbani has already emerged as consensus candidate for the slot of Chairman Senate.
