Lieutenant General Shahid Niaz has said that 50 percent danger has been thwarted owing to the spillway made to flush out the water from the Hunza lake that could submerge many downward villages, and added that Pakistan Army is ready to face any threat. He said international experts help is also being taken on the issue. He said the locals are being shifted on the orders of Chief of Army Staff. He maintained that Tarbela is some 400kms away from the lake. The Hunza lake formed by a landslide started causing destruction and submerging nearby villages. The lake is 18kms long and owing to the fear of bursting of it, the around 400 families started migration from the area. DCO Kohistan, while talking to Dunya News, said that geologists from around the world have started converging the valley to evaluate the lake. According to him, areas located alongside River Sindh including Dasu, Kozial, Kot Kamila, Seu, Kazpora, Sazin, Thothi, Harbin, Kairo, Khobal and Sri Gaigal would be submerged if the lake overruns.
